Chris Cowperthwaite is Quanta’s senior instrument engineer and a Chartered Engineer with a lifetime of experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, power, utility, and fine chemical industries.
Born and bred in Middlesbrough, 54-year-old Chris started his career at the former ICI Engineering site in Billingham as a control electrical designer.
After gaining a solid grounding in engineering design, Chris left ICI to complete a degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Teesside University. For the past 30-years Chris has worked across the full spectrum of power industries in a variety of contractor roles, giving him deep and wide technical knowledge of all aspects of instrument design engineering.
From new plant commissioning and enhanced operations of existing plant, through to de-bottlenecking and decommissioning at end of operational plant life, Chris has experience spanning the full asset lifecycle for both onshore and offshore facilities. As well as designing and building systems from scratch, Chris’s expertise includes the specification and operability of instrumentation for use in hazardous areas and potentially explosive atmospheres.
With extensive expertise built up over a long successful career, Chris uses his interpersonal skills and knowledge of the best available technology to solve project problems. Chris works closely with the client and Quanta personnel to generate optimum solutions for any given project.
He is also a European Engineer and an active member of the Institute of Measurement and Control.
