Quanta EPC was selected to deliver project planning, early-stage engineering coordination, enabling works support and detailed design development for the Teesside Plant, a strategically important eco-Plant development in the UK.

Working from Quanta’s Newcastle headquarters, the project brought together a multi-disciplinary engineering and project delivery team supported by specialist partners to provide an integrated pre-construction, planning and detailed design solution.

The commission focused on establishing the project delivery strategy, coordinating early groundworks and enabling activities, and progressing the engineering design package to support the transition into the next stage of EPC execution.

The Challenge

The project required the coordination and management of a broad range of engineering, planning and pre-construction activities within an ambitious programme.

Quanta was tasked with developing integrated delivery plans, coordinating early groundworks interfaces and managing detailed engineering progression while ensuring all deliverables complied with UK design standards, engineering regulations, CDM requirements and project safety objectives.

The programme also required close collaboration with the client, specialist delivery partners and third-party stakeholders to align procurement strategies, construction methodologies, logistics planning and design development ahead of full EPC implementation.

Quanta implemented a lean and collaborative project execution strategy focused on integrated planning, early works coordination and ‘right-first time’ detailed design delivery.

The business led the overall engineering and project management activities while coordinating specialist support across process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil, structural, architectural and technical safety disciplines.

Significant focus was placed on construction planning, enabling works coordination, programme development, design interface management and procurement scheduling to ensure the project was effectively positioned for progression into EPC delivery.
