The Challenge
The project required the coordinated development of extensive pre-construction planning and enabling strategies within a complex brownfield industrial environment adjacent to existing infrastructure and live utilities.
The scope involved managing engineering interfaces, construction methodologies, utility coordination, logistics planning, procurement scheduling and stakeholder engagement while maintaining compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and strict health, safety and environmental requirements.
In parallel with the planning activities, the programme required the development of integrated project schedules, construction sequencing strategies, cost planning inputs and procurement plans for long-lead equipment packages. Ongoing engineering coordination, constructability reviews and value engineering exercises were also undertaken to support the transition into detailed design and future EPC delivery phases.
Quanta EPC Solution
Quanta implemented a lean and collaborative project execution strategy combining engineering coordination, procurement support, project planning and pre-construction management to support development of the Sleaford eco-Plant project.
Working from Quanta’s Cramlington office and in coordination with project stakeholders, the team utilised integrated project controls, ISO-certified management systems and structured planning workshops to develop the project delivery strategy and prepare the project for the next stage of detailed design.
Significant focus was placed on programme development, construction planning, procurement scheduling, risk management and design interface coordination to ensure the project was effectively positioned for progression into detailed design and subsequent EPC execution.
